Welcome to MatthewHouse.com

Donations

Financial support:   Matthew House  relies solely on the generous support of individuals and groups who care about refugees.  We have ongoing operational needs and therefore we are very grateful for any financial support to our work!  Matthew House is particularly vulnerable due to the challenging economy and the fact that we do not receive any direct government support. Your financial contributions continue to make it possible to operate Matthew House, and offer refugees a warm welcome and hope at the conclusion of their often difficult journey to Canada. Thank you.

* Those wishing to make a donation in honour of a friend or loved one as a Christmas gift or for another special event may do so by enclosing a note with their payment stating the person whom they want to honour along with their address and a letter will be sent to them stating that you have given the gift in their honour.

RE Donations of:

Household items and furniture (and vans/drivers to deliver it in) are also welcomed at Matthew House.  As refugees move out and set up their own apartments, there is always a need for beds (singles especially), dressers, single bed sheets, warm blankets, bedding, towels, cleaning supplies and other basic household items. All items must be in excellent useable condition. Unfortunately MH has had to spend a lot of time and money bringing inappropriate donations to the dump.  Out of respect for our refugee guest's dignity, please ensure that a donated item is something that you would be pleased to recieve yourself. Thank you.

To confirm whether your items are needed please contact Abbay our Move coordinator at 416-364-8287 ext. 1.

Matthew House has limited storage space and limited access to drivers to pick up large donations in the GTA. If we are able to pick up your items, a minimum donation of $20 toward gas and van maintenance is appreciated at the time of the pick up. Cheques can be made to: Matthew House Toronto.

Please note that Matthew House does not issue tax receipts for donations of used furniture and household items.

A "Wish List " is available in order that you can choose the specific needs related to new iteams that you are most interested in contributing.  Click on our "Wish List " to view details of the items.

You can also participate in any of the Fund-raising special events (such as the Scotiabank Charity Run in September) that are held for Matthew House, or contact Matthew House to organize your own event!    Fund-raising events will be announced via the Home page news, or look ahead on the "events Calendar" under the "Programs" page, to plan ahead for upcoming events.
